Our Philosophy

Our philosophy of music education is a basic one. We're not here to build award winning ensembles and to train kids to be the best - we're here to teach kids about music - all kinds of music. We're here to instill a life-long love of music and to create informed music consumers.

Our Mission

We believe that the music education curriculum has the following unique and essential responsibilities:
  • To heighten students’ aesthetic awareness of all genres and styles of music and art.
  • To help students attain proficiency so they can become active performers throughout their lives.
  • To help students understand the social and cultural links between music, other art forms, and other areas of study.
  • To help students attain a cosmopolitan attitude and multi-cultural perspective, employing all types of music and giving recognition to the value of all types of music.
